ServiceTitan data export and terms of use: who owns your job history, and what AI rules apply

Before you license, sell or switch platforms, it helps to know what your field service software's terms say about your records. Here is what ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge and five other platforms say about ownership, export, scraping and AI, read on each vendor's own site on October 18, 2026.

The short answer

ServiceTitan's terms of use say the contractor owns its Customer Data, and ServiceTitan promises not to train AI models on it for any third party (source: ServiceTitan Terms of Use (updated Sept 16, 2026)). Housecall Pro says customer data entered by Pros remains the property of the Pro (source: Housecall Pro Terms of Service (modified 07/01/2026)). Jobber's terms have no ownership clause and grant Jobber a perpetual license to your content (source: Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026)).

For a ServiceTitan data export, Housecall Pro export or Jobber export, the rules that matter most are the short windows after you cancel (60 days or less for most), the bans on scrapers and AI agents, and the franchise clause that gives a franchisor the data. Export through each platform's own tools while you are subscribed. Those exports are what an AI data license is built from.

What ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber store

Each platform holds the core of a trades company's history, and that history is what AI buyers want: the ticket, the technician's notes, the options presented, whether one sold, the invoice and the callback.

PlatformCommon inRecords it usually holds
ServiceTitanResidential and commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage doors, roofingCalls and bookings, jobs, technician notes, estimates and options sold, dispatch, memberships, equipment, price book, invoices, photos
Housecall ProSmaller residential service shopsCustomers, jobs, estimates, scheduling, invoices and payments, notes and photos
JobberHome services and small tradesClients, requests, quotes, jobs, visits, invoices, notes
FieldEdgeResidential HVAC and plumbingJobs, dispatch, service agreements, equipment, invoices
BuildOps, ServiceTradeCommercial mechanical, fire and life safetyWork orders, inspections, PM schedules, quotes, assets
CompanyCamRoofing and all tradesJob photos and video, with notes and checklists
JobNimbus, AccuLynxRoofingLeads, estimates, production boards, photos, invoices
Common setups, for orientation. Your account's modules decide what it holds.

Buyers value the linked record most: one job number tying the call, ticket, estimate, photos and invoice together, ideally over 5+ years on one platform. Our HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors guide covers which buyers name the trades and what each one wants.

Who owns your data under each platform's terms

PlatformOwnershipClause
ServiceTitan“Customer owns and retains all right, title, and interest in and to all Customer Data”§8(a); franchisor owns franchisee data, §10
Housecall Pro“Individual customer data entered or imported by Pros shall remain the property of the Pro”Customer Data heading (sections are not numbered)
JobberNo customer ownership clause; Jobber gets a “perpetual, irrevocable” license to user content§6.1
FieldEdge (Xplor)No ownership or export clause found; licenses end at termination§13.3.1
CompanyCamCustomer Data is “owned exclusively by Customer”§6.1
BuildOps“Customer retains all intellectual property and other rights in Customer Data”§14
ServiceTradeYou are “the sole and exclusive owner” of Your Data10.b
FieldPulse“you own Customer Data”§24.2
JobNimbusCustomer retains all right, title and interest in Customer Data, but may not license or sell “information or materials obtained through the Services”§6.1, §5.4
Each vendor's public terms, read October 18, 2026 (source: ServiceTitan Terms of Use (updated Sept 16, 2026), Housecall Pro Terms of Service (modified 07/01/2026), Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026), Xplor US SaaS Terms v1.2 (linked from fieldedge.com/legal), CompanyCam Terms (updated Aug 14, 2026), BuildOps Terms of Service (updated May 28, 2026), ServiceTrade MSA (Aug 10, 2026), FieldPulse Terms of Service, JobNimbus Terms of Service (updated Sept 23, 2026)). A signed order form or enterprise agreement can differ, and it governs.

Ownership is the starting point, not the whole answer. JobNimbus is the clearest example: the customer keeps its data, but §5.4 bars licensing or selling information obtained through the service, so buyers may ask for JobNimbus's written consent for records exported from it (source: JobNimbus Terms of Service (updated Sept 23, 2026)). Jobber's terms do not say who owns the data at all (source: Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026)), so your own records are the safest basis: the copies in your accounting system, email and photo library, plus whatever Jobber lets you export.

ServiceTitan terms of use: the clauses that matter for your data

ServiceTitan's Terms of Use, last updated September 16, 2026, have six clauses a contractor should know:

  • Ownership (§8(a)). “Customer owns and retains all right, title, and interest in and to all Customer Data.”
  • No third-party AI training (§10). ServiceTitan “will not (1) use Customer Data to train AI models for the benefit of any third party.”
  • Franchises (§10). “Your franchisor, and not you, owns all Customer Data,” and franchisees agree “not to seek any mass export of Customer Data related to your franchise business(es)” without the franchisor's consent.
  • After termination (§5(e)). ServiceTitan “is not obligated to retain that information for greater than 60 days after any termination,” and export is available with “service fees may apply.”
  • AI agents (§7). The terms bar using an AI agent “to bypass, circumvent, or disable any security measure” (§7(f)(iii)) or “to extract, scrape, harvest, or otherwise collect data” (§7(i)).
  • Phone transcripts (Attachment 1). Summaries and transcripts from ServiceTitan's telephony services “shall not be available for download, export or similar data tasks.”

Two add-on terms matter too. Pricebook Pro content may not be transferred to third parties other than your own content through the service, and after cancellation you get ten days to remove ServiceTitan-provided content before an export. Field Pro recordings come with your own duty to give notice and obtain consent from each person recorded (source: ServiceTitan Terms of Use (updated Sept 16, 2026)). Our guide to customer lists, call recordings and what stays out covers both.

Housecall Pro export and Jobber export: what you can get out

Housecall Pro. The terms say customer data stays the Pro's property, and that you are solely responsible for compiling and keeping permanent records of all transactions. They have no export clause, and on termination Housecall Pro “may retain your information” but has “no obligation to do so” (source: Housecall Pro Terms of Service (modified 07/01/2026)). Treat your account as something to export from regularly, not an archive that will wait for you.

Jobber. Jobber's help center describes a client list export to CSV or vCard, for admin users on select plans, with CSV files of up to about 1,500 rows each (source: Jobber Help Center, export client information). The terms tell you to maintain backups of your data at all times (§5.6), let you request deletion on termination (§18), and contain no express export right (source: Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026)). Job, quote and invoice history comes out through Jobber's reports, so pull those while you are subscribed.

A client list is not what buyers want

The easiest export in both products is the customer or client list, and it is the one record type AI buyers usually exclude. Buyers want the jobs, notes, quotes and invoices, with homeowner details removed.

Export windows after you cancel your field service software

BuildOpsExport if written notice arrives within 30 days; no retention duty after that§5(d)
FieldPulseExport for 60 days after the subscription ends§24.8
CompanyCamAvailable for six months after the final term§11.4(d)
FieldEdge (Xplor)Licenses end and use stops at termination§13.3.1
Housecall ProMay retain, no obligation to; no export clauseTermination of Account
JobberDeletion on request; no export right§18
Each vendor's public terms, read October 18, 2026 (source: ServiceTitan Terms of Use (updated Sept 16, 2026), ServiceTrade MSA (Aug 10, 2026), BuildOps Terms of Service (updated May 28, 2026), FieldPulse Terms of Service, CompanyCam Terms (updated Aug 14, 2026), Xplor US SaaS Terms v1.2 (linked from fieldedge.com/legal), Housecall Pro Terms of Service (modified 07/01/2026), Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026)).

If you are switching platforms, closing a location or selling the company, these windows are the deadline for your history. Export first, confirm the files open and are complete, then send notice. For a sale, our guide to selling an HVAC or plumbing business covers the timing.

Scraping, AI agents and API pulls: the limits

Several platforms bar automated collection, which rules out the shortcut of pointing a tool at your account:

The safe path is the platform's own reports, exports and backup tools, run by you or your staff, or a full export requested from the vendor. The FieldPulse clause matters if a buyer builds field service software; ask each buyer to say in writing what the licensed data will train.

Vendor AI clauses: what your software company may do with your data

These clauses describe what the vendor may do with your records, not what you may do with your own export, but they are worth knowing:

In short, several vendors already use your records to improve their own AI. A license lets your company decide the terms for its own copy. Some AI data buyers accept exports from these systems by name: one buyer program lists ServiceTitan and Jobber among the systems it takes, and a marketplace's trades program lists ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge and others (source: program terms, Regulr buyer directory). Our buyer directory lists the programs and links to their published terms.

ServiceTitan vs Housecall Pro vs Jobber: if you are switching platforms

Many owners comparing ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber are planning a move, usually from a smaller tool to a larger one as the company grows. A switch is the moment job history is most likely to be lost.

A migration moves what the new platform needs to run the business: customers, locations, equipment, open jobs and memberships. Ask the new vendor exactly what it imports, because the full history of closed jobs, technician notes, estimate options and photos may not come across in a form that still links together. Then the old platform's clock starts. Housecall Pro has no obligation to keep your information after termination (source: Housecall Pro Terms of Service (modified 07/01/2026)), Jobber has no export right in its terms (source: Jobber Terms of Service (updated Sept 22, 2026)), and FieldEdge's governing terms end access at termination (§13.3.1) (source: Xplor US SaaS Terms v1.2 (linked from fieldedge.com/legal)).

The fix is simple and cheap: before you give notice to the old vendor, export everything it lets you export, by year, and keep the files on your own systems. That archive is part of what makes a trades company's records valuable, because buyers pay more for long, linked history. Years of tickets on one platform followed by years on another are still useful, as long as both sets exist.

An export plan for a field service data license

  1. Pull your signed order form and confirm which terms version governs your account.
  2. Confirm you are not a franchisee whose franchisor owns the data.
  3. List every module you use: phones, dispatch, memberships, price book, photos, payments.
  4. Export jobs, notes, estimates, invoices, memberships and equipment through the platform's own reports, by year.
  5. Export photos from CompanyCam or the platform's photo store, with job numbers kept.
  6. Leave out call transcripts the platform will not export, Pricebook Pro or other licensed content, and payment card data.
  7. Keep the raw exports on your own systems. They go to the buyer you choose only after scope and de-identification are agreed.

How Regulr is paid, and how we write these pages

Regulr is a sell-side advisor. When a business we introduce signs a license, we may be paid a fee by the buyer or through a program's referral terms. We list every program we can verify whether or not it pays us, order is never set by fees, and every figure is the company's own advertised term with a link to where it says so. Regulr has not closed a data deal yet, so nothing here describes our results.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns my data in ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan's Terms of Use, updated September 16, 2026, say the customer owns and retains all right, title and interest in and to all Customer Data (Section 8(a)). The exception is franchise businesses: the same terms say the franchisor, and not the franchisee, owns all Customer Data. Your signed order form and any addenda also apply.

How do I export my data from ServiceTitan?

While you are subscribed, use ServiceTitan's own reports and export tools, and ask your account team about a full export. After termination, ServiceTitan says it is not obligated to keep your information for more than 60 days, and export is on request with service fees possible (Section 5(e)). Its terms bar using an AI agent to scrape or extract data, and call transcripts and summaries are not available for export.

Can I export my customer list from Housecall Pro?

Housecall Pro's terms say customer data entered or imported by Pros remains the property of the Pro, but they contain no export clause, and on termination Housecall Pro may retain your information with no obligation to do so. Run any export you need while the account is active. For a data license, the customer list itself usually stays out; buyers want job history with homeowner details removed.

How do I export data from Jobber?

Jobber's help center describes a client list export to CSV or vCard for admin users on select plans, with CSV files of up to about 1,500 rows each. Its Terms of Service have no express export right and no clause saying the customer owns its data, and they bar data mining and scraping. Use Jobber's own exports and reports while subscribed.

Does ServiceTitan use my data to train AI?

ServiceTitan's terms say it will not use Customer Data to train AI models for the benefit of any third party. Housecall Pro's terms say your user data may be used to train its own AI models, and CompanyCam and BuildOps allow training of their own internal models. Each vendor's clause is about what the vendor does, not about what you may do with your own export.

What happens to my data if I cancel my field service software?

It depends on the vendor. ServiceTitan keeps data no more than 60 days after termination, ServiceTrade makes it available for 30 days, BuildOps exports on written notice within 30 days, FieldPulse allows 60 days, and CompanyCam keeps it available for six months. FieldEdge's governing terms end access at termination, and Housecall Pro and Jobber publish no export window. Export first, then cancel.

Can I use an integration or API tool to pull my data for a license?

That is the riskiest route. ServiceTitan bars AI agents that scrape or extract data, Jobber bars data mining and scraping, CompanyCam bars systematic copying without written consent, and ServiceTrade bars browser-based scraping. Exports through each platform's own reports, backups or account team are the safer path.
